Chief Security Officer: Job Description
Department: Security
Reports To: General Manager
Job Summary
The Chief Security Officer coordinates, supervises, plans and organizes activities so as to ensure the provision of security services in keeping with the relevant protocols and legislation and in support of the Authority’s strategic directions. The Security Manager is responsible for ensuring the delivery of efficient and effective security services through coaching, managing and ensuring the training of personnel who provide front line security and protection of air travelers, employees, seaports and airport and any other properties under the control of the Authority.
Qualifications and Requirements:
At least Five (5) O'level subjects including English.
A bachelor's degree will be an asset.
Has achieved at least Sargent rank in Law Enforcement
Extensive training in Security or Law Enforcement will be preferable
Experience in supervisory or management roles.
Excellent communication skills
Essential duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Establish security objectives, goals, processes and plans in support of the Authority’s strategic directions.
Maintain knowledge of all relevant air and seaport security trends, current security issues and security technology, and updates management on risks that could impact the Authority’s business.
Ensure that the Authority is in full compliance with all relevant established international security standards and protocols including, IMO, International Ship and Port Facility Security (ISPS) code, Transport Security Administration (TSA), International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO).
Conduct site reviews, write audit/review reports, review findings and make recommendations to Management.
Monitor and evaluate the Authority’s performance on key security issues and programs and recommends corrective action where appropriate.
Establish and maintains robust customer service relationship to ensure complete understanding of customer processes and enable the delivery of viable security responses.
Provide leadership, advice and counsel to Management on security policy and practices. Identify security risks and recommend and develop corrective plans as appropriate.
Supervise and organize placement of staff as required, delegate supervisory tasks and accountability, and evaluate staff performance.
Develop an ongoing training program in the relevant areas to assist in the overall development and effectiveness of the Security Staff
Manage maintenance of all security equipment.
Working with management to develop and implement an appropriate budget for security programs.
