Marine Officer Position
The Port Marine Officer is responsible for the maintenance of a safe and efficient marine operation through the delivery of effective Vessel Traffic Services, and adhering to International Ship and Port Security Regulations.
Other responsibilities include:
· Ensure maximum utilization of berthing space and of areas of the facilities
· Ensure that there is compliance with the Port’s Security Plan, International Conventions, Protocols and Regulations
· Assist and maintain a good working relationship with stakeholders including customers, Customs and Excise, Ship Agents and staff
· Assist in the maintenance of moorings
· Participate in vessel coastal patrol
· Control and manage the disposal of marine/port waste
· Guard the Marine and Port facility
· Effectively utilize and maintain the pier and navigational aid
Qualifications and Requirements
· High School Certificate
· At least 18 years of age
· Basic marine (sea) knowledge and skills will be an asset
· Must be able to prepare basic written reports and logs
· Must be able to read and understand all operating procedures and instructions
· As a condition of employment, a successful background check
· Must display good customer service and communication skills
· Remain flexible to ever changing environments; adapt well to different situations
· Ability to maintain satisfactory attendance and punctuality standard;
· Willing to undergo on the job and other training
